Covid 19 - What you need to know - Scotland - Hospitality reopening dates announced.

Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, has announced new indicative dates for the remainder of the “Phase 2” and start of “Phase 3” route out of lockdown.

The full route map (revised in light of today’s comments), on which we have reported previously, can be found here. Updated guidance is expected in respect of beer gardens, pavement cafes and the tourism and hospitality sector in anticipation of the upcoming relaxations.

The new dates are described as ‘indicative’ in several instances suggesting they will be open to review in light of new evidence that may come to light.

29 June - Most non-essential shops, many indoor workplaces, visitor attractions including zoos, outdoor sports courts and playgrounds

3 July (indicative) - Five mile travel distance relaxed, Self-catering accommodation and second homes (without shared facilities) permitted

6 July (indicative) - Outdoor hospitality such as beer gardens can reopen

10 July (indicative) - People can meet in extended groups outdoors and with two other households indoors

13 July (indicative) - Shopping centres can reopen, organised outdoor contact sports for children can resume, dentists can reopen for most routine care

15 July(indicative) - Pubs, restaurants and all holiday accommodation can reopen, as can hairdressers, barbers, museums, cinemas, libraries and childcare

This announcement follows the release of new data showing that the coronavirus death rates in Scotland have continued to fall for the eighth week in a row.

The First Minister also reported in her daily briefing that the reduction in 2m physical distancing was being reviewed by the Government.
